WHAT IS WE FLOW?

WE FLOW is a project part of the How We Grow Foundation, centering women empowerment in Sri Lanka by providing menstrual care packages and education to local girls and women. The patriarchal lense around the modern medical model is a worldwide. As conversations and cultural shifts are beginning open spaces for women to reclaim the feminine body with its cyclical nature as something that empowers us rather than hinder us, it is still very much a taboo topic, which is at great detriment to women’s mental and physical wellbeing.

SOME CONTEXT

As Europeans living in Sri Lanka for a decade now, we have seen how this topic has made many girls and women not have access to the correct education, resources and sanitary wear that we believe to be a basic birth right. Without this basic access in more impoverished families, it can often affect girls and women’s abilities to go to school, work and live a life with freedoms that we all deserve. With such lack of education around the topic for both girls and women, as well as boys and men, it can often mean shame, guilt, confusion, lack of confidence and misunderstandings around a topic that is innately natural. 

 

OUR MISSION

WE FLOW’s vision is to provide girls and women at free cost access to sustainable reusable sanitary wear alongside an educational programme with emphasis on collaboration and giving voice to the needs of women. Mukti Studio and How We Grow Foundation have joined forces to create a bundle of 3x reusable sustainable menstrual pads, education leaflet and laundry bar soap alongside an educational programme to be distributed to local schools and midwife centres.​​​
